Newmarket Business Day

Edmondson Hall brings the business community together at the Rowley Mile

Friday 22 May saw the local business community join Edmondson Hall at the Rowley Mile for the inaugural Newmarket Business Day. The event featured six races supported by the local business community, including Edmondson Hall, with the final race of the day being the Bollinger Champagne Challenge Series. The main event was the Edmondson Hall Solicitors & Sports Lawyers Handicap which was won by Roaring Forte, trained by WJ Haggas and ridden by Liam Jones. The Sir Michael Stoute trained favourite Tryst, of Cheveley Park Stud, came home in a close second, with Golden Desert completing the top three.

Following a Bucks Fizz reception events were kicked off with a pre-race visit from Derek "Tommo" Thompson to provide "Tommo’s Tips" in person (with great success, although we have not heard of anyone retiring to the Bahamas just yet!), and culminated in a charity prize draw (Sponsored by Edmondson Hall and Peters Elworthy & Moore) which raised £430 for the East Anglian Children’s Hospice.

The day was widely considered to be a success in bringing the local business community together at the Rowley Mile. The notion of a Newmarket Business Day was conceived by Mark Edmondson. Mark, senior partner at Edmondson Hall, commented "In a difficult economic year it was pleasing to see many local businesses in attendance".

We are particularly grateful to our fellow sponsors for helping to give Newmarket Business Day a successful inauguration. Following its success, we are confident that the event will flourish and develop into a must-attend date in the local calendar. We therefore hope to see you at next year’s event!

If you are interested in joining us in the winners’ enclosure by sponsoring a race at the next Newmarket Business Day and would like more information of the benefits your sponsorship would bring, please register your interest with Martin Lane at ml@edmondsonhall.com
